We will reach out to you to confirm your selection. If we get lots of Volunteers for a specific shift, the first ones to make that selection will be scheduled. If the specific shift you chose is already full, we will reach out and see if you are interested in helping us in another location.

Volunteer Opportunity Descriptions

Not all of these opportunities still need volunteers. Please see the list above for open shifts.

• Art Contest

Volunteers may be involved in judging art, transporting art to the event venue or supervising the art display at the event.

• Butterfly Prep

A few select volunteers will label butterflies prior to the event.

• Craft Booth

Volunteer should receive a brief explanation of the offered craft(s) and then during the event should assist attendees with provided butterfly themed craft activity.

• General Volunteers

Many are needed to help with butterfly release, help answer general attendee questions and fill in where needed. Possibly provide breaks for other volunteers. A butterfly costume may be provided.

• Sales Booth

Cashiers participate as salespeople, interacting with event attendees and collecting funds for items sold. Must be comfortable handling cash and electronic payments.

• Science Booth

Volunteers help kids and adults learn about Monarchs using microscopes and other equipment. A pre-event data sheet may be provided to volunteers.

• Watermelon Cutters

The day before the event many volunteers needed to cut up watermelon so attendees can see released butterflies up close as they feed on the watermelon.
