The purpose of the party was to introduce the Grapevine Botanical Gardens Greenhouse project to Texas Garden Club members. The GGC has partnered with the City of Grapevine to obtain grants and raise matching funds and donations to construct a greenhouse within the Gardens. The greenhouse will provide even more opportunities to expand the Botanical Gardens’ educational and volunteer programs and to propagate plants for the Gardens and special events. Additional information about the Greenhouse project may be found on the Greenhouse page on this site.

Friday night guests enjoyed a design program presented by National Accredited Flower Show Judges Council. Saturday convention activities included a bus tour to the Texas Garden Club Headquarters Building at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens for a silver tea recognizing Barbara Baker for her role in getting the building recognized on the National Historic Register.

The highlight for our club was being given an award as the 2011 Texas Garden Club of the Year. Carol Moore, TGC Award Chair, said:

"Congratulations to the Grapevine Garden Club for being Garden Club of the Year and hosting such a wonderful and well organized state convention."
