Weather Changes Impacting Gardening  presented by Jeff Ray

Thursday, September 28, 2021

Think about the odd weather we have experienced both here in the DFW area and around the world, this year and in recent years.   We all remember the difficult days in February when we were freezing.  Then our summer was wetter and a bit cooler than normal, while other parts of our country experienced extreme droughts, heavy rains, unusually high temperatures.  These oddities were not limited to North America, other parts of the world also experienced unusual weather conditions.  Our speaker will discuss the significant changes experienced around the world.

Jeff Ray is Senior Meteorologist and a feature reporter at CBS11. He recently celebrated his tenth year at the station.  Born in Lubbock, he attended the University of Texas and received his Meteorology degree from Mississippi State. He received his Master’s in Education from the University of Missouri in Kansas City while serving as a full time Meteorologist for the NBC affiliate there.

Jeff is also an avid gardener and started his weekly Gardening 101 series on CBS11 last August. The station is currently designing a demonstration garden on the station property in Fort Worth as part of the series.  Jeff frequently has local experts participate in the series and demonstrate the topics.

His presentation will include the weather changes across north Texas. What should we expect in the future and does it mean growing for a slightly different climate zone? Come to the September 28th meeting to meet Jeff and learn about these changes.  He is very excited to meet our large club of plant lovers too!
